Each year the Rehoboth Beach Public Library sponsors a Summer Reading Program to encourage Children and Teens to continue reading throughout the summer. Throughout the summer weekly story times, activities, and special events are offered for free and open to the public. Important: Your child does not need to be registered for the summer reading program to attend any programs on the schedule; however, we highly encourage you to register your child for the program so that your child does not miss out on this fun opportunity! The summer ends with the Celebrate Summer Party for those children who have successfully completed the program. This is a time of fun and recognition for the readers.
Numerous fun, free activities and programs are scheduled at the library throughout the summer, and we hope that your child will find a lot of events that spark their interest and learning! Registration is appreciated for all programs. Please note, however, that some of these programs may require registration due to limited spots.
Visit our Beanstack webpage by clicking on the logo above! Parents, you will be the ACCOUNT CREATOR, while each child can be added as a READER. You will only need to do this ONCE. After the first year, you will join each Summer Reading Program without having to re-register or make a new account. Beanstack is an adaptive website, meaning that logging can be accomplished from any internet-ready device. Traditional paper reading logs are available here, Time Log PDF, or at the library. These do not get turned into the libary, but are another logging option that can be turned into parents.
Kiddos of all ages keep track of the HOURS that they read, earning badges for different time amounts as they work through the program! Raffle tickets are awarded for every 10 hours participants log and each program they attend. When they reach TEN HOURS they are invited to our CELEBRATE SUMMER party in August! Food, fun and games will be had with the giving of books and goodie bags and recognition in our September Newsletter, local newspapers, and here on the website! Special recognition also for kids who read the most hours, books, and more!
